Domlec AMI goes live October 15th 2009

Dear Customer,

Domlec is pleased to introduce to you its new Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Project. AMI is the technology of automatically collecting consumption, diagnostic, and status data from metering devices and transferring that data to a central database for billing and analyzing. As a result, billing can be based on near real time consumption rather than on estimates based on previous or predicted consumption.

The company introduced this infrastructure to Dominica in April 2008, through a pilot project conducted in the Fond Cole area. Today, having been satisfied with the results, we are moving ahead, full scale to broaden the scope of the automatic meter infrastructure. Domlec’s Meter Technicians will visit your premises to install the new AMI meter. It is hoped that at the end of a three year period, customers island-wide will be metered through the new system.

AMI presents itself as the new way of metering worldwide. A number of Caribbean islands including St. Lucia, Trinidad, Grenada and a number of larger countries have introduced AMI to improve the quality of customer service by increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs. The benefits of AMI are clear and proven:

  • Accurate meter reading, no more estimates - improved billing
  • Improved security for premises as no meter reader will visit your property to read the meter
  • Energy Management through profile data graphs
  • Less financial burden correcting mistakes
  • On-demand electric meter reading
  • Interval energy and demand meter reading
  • Outage detection
  • Monitoring of voltage and other power quality characteristics
  • Tamper detection
  • Time of use metering

We at Domlec thank you for your support over the years and look forward to even greater support and co-operation as our technicians begin the installation process of the AMI. Please feel free to call us at 255-6191 or 6194 if you have any questions or concerns.
